The addicted person often wants nothing more than to stay clean and sober. The promises are sincere but the triggers for relapse are often subconscious and the compulsion to use can come on fast, followed by intense shame, confusion and wreckage.<\/p>\n
My approach is solution-based. The focus is positive change and I offer tools, support and a safe place to examine what is holding back progress. There is no judgement here. Only compassion and support.<\/p>\n
I have been a Certified Addictions Counselor since 1994. I was educated and trained in San Diego, California, where I lived for 10 years. Raised in the Midwest, I longed for the change of seasons and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999. My husband and I have been married 25 years. He is also a therapist and, surprisingly we have three well-adjusted, young adult children!<\/p>\n
My philosophy is that we each have our own journey but we do not have to walk it alone. Addiction isolates its victims, as bridges are burned and families are torn apart. I can help you wherever you are on your journey of recovery and assist you as you transform your life! What I l have loved most about working in the field of addictions for almost 30 years has been the rapid growth and change I have witnessed in my clients! In addition to substance abuse, I also work with family members who love those with addiction problems. I have years of experience in working with \u201cchronic relapsers\u201d, helping them get\u00a0Back on the Beam<\/em>!<\/p>\n In addition, I counsel those with impulse-control issues such as shop-lifting and compulsive-shopping problems which have been known to coincide with addiction. I offer strategies and tools to help clients overcome these often confusing and shame-inducing behaviors.<\/p>\n I also offer Georgia State-Mandated Clinical Evaluations, Drug & Alcohol Evaluations and Anger Management Evaluations. I do\u00a0not<\/strong><\/em>, however, offer court-mandated treatment services.
